Her paintings are a kind of ode to all women - mothers, daughters, sisters, grandchildren, workers, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, who each in their own way fight for attention and a place in society.
This exhibition commemorates women who persevered in the struggle for the realization of their rights and supports contemporary efforts to strengthen the position of women.
We invite you to the grand opening of the first solo exhibition of paintings by Dijana Čović, a journalist by profession - an artist out of love.
The exhibition at the Croatian Heritage Foundation opens on the occasion of the reception of the winners of the Influential Croatian and Future Leader Awards, presented by the Toronto Croatian Women’s Network We invite you to the grand opening of the first solo exhibition of paintings by Dijana Čović, a journalist by profession – an artist out of love. The life of the artist born in Vukovar is largely marked by the Vukovar tragedy, persecution and difficult days of pain, transforming her creativity and artistic work.
Dijana Čović’s painting encapsulates several worlds, so, although women’s motives and questioning a woman’s identity are in the foreground, other topics that inspire her are also on display.
Motives of women are not framed by a feminist sign, "but above all they depict the psychological and sociological aspect where the artist depicts the role of women in our society with a brush and paints".
The International Women’s Day was not chosen by chance to set up the exhibition “Acta, non verba” by the artist Diana Covic. The exhibition promotes the importance and role of women in today’s globalized society by celebrating the successes that Croatians and emigrants of Croatian ethnic and cultural roots have achieved in the social, artistic and economic spheres, the invitation emphasizes.
She has also established international collaborations with the Saatchi Art Gallery and the Art Pal Gallery.
Her paintings are a kind of ode to all women – mothers, daughters, sisters, grandchildren, workers, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, who each fight in their own way for attention and place in society, writes Snježana Jurišić, head of the CHF Department of Culture. The world of art has changed the world of that journalist who now reveals her emotions through brush and paint. Her talent is confirmed by her mentor, academic painter Hrvoje Majer.
